Will We Get All 11 Doctors Together For The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special?

This bit of news/rumor came from the Blogtor Who blog and was immediately taken down which tends to lend more credence to it being true than not. I’m sure some inventive effects will be used to deal with the fact that some of the actors who portrayed The Doctor over the years have passed on and then some wibbly wobbly timey-wimey stuff will need to be done to explain how all of the Doctors can be in the same place at the same time. But if all of the living actors will indeed be gathered together then I will be a truly happy … Continue reading Will We Get All 11 Doctors Together For The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special?

There Can Be Only One…The Racial Quickening of The Walking Dead

Highlander-Movie

For centuries we have waited for the time of the Gathering, when the stroke of a sword and the fall of a head will release the power of the Quickening. In the end, there can be only one.

– Duncan MacLeod of The Clan MacLeod

Tyreese is finally coming to The Walking Dead! The biggest gripe I have had with The Walking Dead TV show was that they didn’t include the fan-favorite character of Tyreese on the show. My annoyance was compounded by the fact that the new character of T-Dog was created for no good reason at all instead of just having what was one of the best characters from the comic on the show. So when I heard the rumors that the Tyreese character was being cast I was ecstatic and then when I read that the character had been cast with Chad Coleman (a favorite of mine from his time on The Wire) filling the role I was giddy with excitement. So seeing the promo that introduces the character (after the jump) just makes me even more psyched for this Sunday’s fall finale than I already was but spoilers have me feeling a bit of trepidation at the same time.

Save The World With Dikembe Mutombo

If you are in the market for a great time waster this holiday season then you can do no better than Dikembe Mutombo’s 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World. You control the legendary NBA center as he fights to halt the coming Mayan apocalypse while doing battle with Mutombo’s sworn enemies, The Blurgies. And if that is not enough you get to hang out during interstitial segments in the game with Mutombo and his two best buddies: an erudite grizzly bear and a cannibalistic turkey. Click the pic to play the game. Continue reading Save The World With Dikembe Mutombo

Exactly Who Is the Target Audiece For A Walking Dead Zombie Bikini Calendar?

Aside from the fact that the make-up for this cheesy bit of nonsense (done as part of promotional efforts for the current season of The Walking Dead) is insanely low budget…the ladies look like a bunch of pretty co-eds on spring break who came in contact with a flesh eating bacteria of some kind and enjoyed wearing goofy contact lenses instead of the living dead.
But who thought this was a good idea to begin with? Maybe I am a stick in the mud but I don’t find the idea of bloody and bruised women in bathing suits to be all that sexy.
You can download the calendar HERE and click onward to see some pics plus a making of video that just ups the creep factor of this entire affair to around 1000.

The Daily Nerdgasm: Game of Thrones Fighting Game

If only this were reality…the idea of a Game of Thrones fighting game in the style of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat would be killer. I would probably play that damn game till my thumbs fell off!
Alas the video game does not exist anywhere but in the fertile imagination of the artistically skilled crew over at Chroma Engine.

Oodles of Doctor Who Goodness

The annual Doctor Who Christmas Special will be here before you know it and the fine folks at BBC (during the Children in Need charity special) have been kind enough to not only deliver some stills from the special but also the prequel minisode (featuring a trio of my favorite Who supporting characters) and the full trailer for the special.

Stopping The Signal…Why I’m Glad Firefly Was Canceled When It Was

OK, let’s get one thing out of the way up front…I am a huge Firefly fan. I was eager for it to premiere when news of a Joss Whedon space western show was first released to the public; I watched every episode religiously during its short lifespan as a TV series; I ran out and bought the DVD on the day it was released; I was first in line to see the Serenity movie. I consider it to be the best thing Joss Whedon has ever done (even better than Buffy The Vampire Slayer).
That being said, I am very happy that the show died when it did.
