That Ant-Man Trailer Was Seriously Underwhelming

After a long, long winding journey, that saw visionary director Edgar Wright booted off the project and replaced with BRING IT ON director Peyton Reed, we finally get a glimpse of Marvel’s ANT-MAN starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.
And my initial reaction was just ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

It isn’t that the trailer was bad because it wasn’t. It just wasn’t particularly good. Or interesting. Or original. This trailer looked like every other super-hero trailer that has come out in the past 10-15 years. I am not surprised since the bulk of Marvel’s cinematic output has the generic look of a syndicated TV action show (with the exclusion of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) but I just keep thinking of what might have been had Wright been allowed to stay on the project. If there is one thing that can never be said about a Wright film it is that it looks generic. Hell, even the brief test footage that Wright put together a few years ago for the San Diego ComiCon has more flair to it than anything I saw in that trailer for the movie. Check it out and compare:
