Jerry vs Jerry

The oddly named, for a vampire at least, Jerry (played by Chris Sarandon) in the original movie was a smoothly distinguished dude who was able to be convincingly charming enough that no one would ever expect him of doing anything more out of bounds than possibly jaywalking. Colin Farrell‘s Jerry in the remake is a predator and he does a really crappy job hiding it. Although my first instinct wouldn’t be to accuse him of being a vampire I would readily assume that he was a R Kelly level pervert and possibly even a serial date rapist. In the scenes where Jerry is first introduced to Charley’s girlfriend it was like he wanted to pounce on her and start humping her leg or something. Let’s face it nuJerry was just creepy. Farrell really impressed once Jerry dropped the less than convincing facade of normalcy and started acting like a vamp. He was really menacing like an uncaged animal where Sarandon’s Jerry was anything but.
