Remake Rumble: Fright Night (1985) vs Fright Night (2011)

Amy vs Amy

Fright Night Amy
The nuAmy is portrayed by the unfortunately named Imogen Poots and she really left no impression on me at all. She was a cute girl and I guess the idea was to show that she was unconcerned with high school norms like popularity and the like but she came off as a bit of a blank slate to me even though she did have a few kickass, tough chick moments in the movie. The original Amy (played by MARRIED WITH CHILDREN‘s Amanda Bearse) was a huge pill. She seemed to have a giant stick permanently stuck up her ass and was constantly giving Charley blue balls.
Amazingly when she gets turned into a vamp by Jerry, Bearse was actually kinda hot (she was working a little classic Ann-Margret action in those scenes) and that is not something that I would have ever expected from Marcy Darcy. Poots on the other hand didn’t seem all that different as a vampire from her regular self and that hurt those scenes with Charley.
Advantage: Fright Night ’85

  1. I honestly think the 1985 Jerry was better becuase he was hotter and something girls could like, the new jerry just looked like a predator/rapist.
