Peter Vincent vs Peter Vincent

The MVP of the Fright Night films needs to be Peter Vincent. In the original film Peter Vincent was an instant classic character just because of the portrayal that Roddy McDowall brought to the character. McDowall’s Vincent, a horror movie of the week TV host, was a comically craven coward who wanted nothing to do with the idea that the things that he introduced every week on film were actually real. In the remake Vincent is a Las Vegas magician in the vein of Criss Angel and is played by David Tennant (the 1oth dude to be DOCTOR WHO). Tennant’s Vincent is a boozing, whoring, selfish prick whose cowardice when faced with the reality of vampires in his world was a bit alarming. Dude basically left Charley and Amy (two teenagers) alone to die. That one act of total cowardice made his decision to later join Charley’s fight a little bit hard to buy. The original Peter Vincent’s “come to Jesus moment” was easier to buy because the guy’s initial apprehension and reaction were easy to understand.
Plus Roddy McDowall is a friggin’ Hollywood legend…he was Cornelius AND Ceaser in the original PLANET OF THE APES movie series!!!
Advantage: Fright Night ’85

I honestly think the 1985 Jerry was better becuase he was hotter and something girls could like, the new jerry just looked like a predator/rapist.
