Synopsis: After a teenage girl seemingly commits suicide, her fellow students (who have formed a “suicide club”) decide to speed up their own suicide pact. But when members of group begin to be murdered by a knife-wielding killer, the teens must discover who is behind the mask as they come to the realization that they do in fact want to live.

The Good:
My number one rule for slasher/horror movies is that they have to make me care about the characters that are going to be put in peril. If I don’t care about them as characters then I won’t really give a darn about them when they get hacked to pieces by whichever maniac is chasing them. Luckily DEMONS NEVER DIE makes all of these kids feel real enough that I became invested in which of them would make it out alive. There was a nice stretch in the movie where the kids began to bond and it was like watching an episode of the British show SKINS except there was a guy running around shanking people. All of the younger actors, led by Robert Sheehan from the amazing UK show MISFITS, did very well with their portrayals and were the highlights of the movie.
And the soundtrack was all kinds of kick ass…made up of dub step, drum and bass, and UK pop that all fit the scenes they were played in very well.

The Bad:
I would have liked to see why or how this disparate group of kids ended up becoming a group. They all seemed to be from entirely different social castes and the idea that they would even say hello to each other let alone somehow end up sharing their innermost feelings about ending their lives struck me as being a bit of a reach.

The Ugly:
While I admit that the identity of the killer came as a shock it wasn’t because of any strokes of genius on the part of the filmmaker. I didn’t guess the killers identity because the person who ended up being the killer was so freaking random that it made little sense. A little time spent explaining the characters motivation would have been nice. I also would have liked to see a bit more fleshing out of the plot thread that made it seem like there was some type of conspiracy regarding the killing.

Final Verdict: A serviceable SCREAM inspired slasher movie that wasted an appealing cast and an intriguing scenario. With a little more attention given to the story and creating a believable reason for the killer to exist and target these kids this could have been a new slasher movie classic. Instead it is just an average, albeit enjoyably forgettable, bit of moviemaking that performs better than expected based on the acting of so many young, up-and-coming British actors. C+
