The Good:
Josh Brolin does a mean Tommy Lee Jones impression. Brolin was so good at embodying Jones that if you were to shut your eyes you could be fooled into thinking that it was actually Jones in those scenes. Brolin also was able to develop a very quick and easy chemistry with Will Smith.
The Bad:
Too bad that Tommy Lee Jones himself seemed to be phoning in his performance from start to finish. The guy look terribly bored in one scene and then annoyed that he was in this movie the next. Also Will Smith was just a little too exuberant with his every action. Sometimes less is more and a lot less of Smith’s in your face/over the top performance would have been very welcome.
The Ugly:
Emma Thompson (and Alice Eve for that matter) were completely underutilized.
Final Verdict: A sometimes loudly obnoxious movie with an elementary storyline and more than a few subpar performances from the cast; MEN IN BLACK III benefits from capable special effects work, some clever alien gags and an impressive performance by Josh Brolin. C+
