The Good:
Tarsem Singh is nothing if not a visual master and the director does not come up lacking with this film. Mirror Mirror is a visually striking film from the sets to the costumes to the hair and make-up on the actors. Everything about this movie is just a feast for the eyes.

The Bad:
Were all of the actors in this film instructed to ham it up to insane degrees by the director? That would be the only way to understand why the performances in this film were so overdone. Julia Roberts especially was a distracting presence as she chewed every bit of the film’s lush scenery like she hadn’t eaten in months. And overall Roberts was just a bad fit for the role of the Evil Queen…snide and snotty? She pulled that off in spades but she was sorely lacking in the evil part.

The Ugly:
Lily Collins was the exception to the overacting rule as she was as stiff and emotionless as a door knob. The only thing even mildly emotive and lively about her performance were her eyebrows.

Final Verdict: The very definition of style over substance. Mirror Mirror is a beautiful looking film but once you get past the visuals all you are left with is a coldly unappealing movie with bad performances from top to bottom. D
