ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #15
GRADE: B+
STORY BY: Brian Michael Bendis
ART BY: David Marquez
COVER BY: Jorge Molina
PUBLISHER: Marvel
SYNOPSIS:
The events of “United We Stand” becomes a very large part of Miles Morales’ life which spurs him to contemplate joining the big dogs in The Ultimates. Plus Maria Hill questions Miles about his uncle’s death and Ganke comes up with the one thing that will make Miles the greatest superhero in the world.
THE GOOD

I love the characterizations in this book. Everyone feels real and they all have their own individual voices which is pretty damn rare coming from Brian Michael Bendis. The interaction between Miles and Ganke is a highlight of this book. the two guys talk and act like kids and their friendship is the strongest point of this title for me. The scenes with Ganke suggesting random catchphrases to Miles was hilarious.
David Marquez also does an amazing job making children look like children instead of miniature adults while still being able to draw Captain America like the larger than life imposing figure he should be.
THE BAD

Nothing really happened in this book which is a small complaint since I would read an entire multi-issue storyline that just focused on Miles and Ganke hanging out.
THE UGLY

I understand the need to bring the events from the United We Stand story into this book but I really have enjoyed this title being on a bit of an island so I am really hoping that the tone of this book won’t change too drastically.
FINAL VERDICT

I am still enjoying the hell out of this book and consider it to be not only the best book in the Ultimate Comics line but the best Spider-Man book Marvel is publishing. My fingers are crossed that falling more in line with the rest of the Ultimate U won’t end up hurting things.
