Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 72% (Critics) / 95% (Audience)
Directed By: Justin Lin
Written By: Chris Morgan
Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Luke Evans
Studio: Universal Pictures

Synopsis: Hobbs has Dom and Brian reassemble their crew in order to take down a mastermind who commands an organization of mercenary drivers across 12 countries. Payment? Full pardons for them all. (Source)

The Good:
Director Justin Lin puts on some pretty impressive action/car chase sequences that move at a really hectic pace but never so fast that the action gets confusing or muddled. And it was also a nice touch to switch up the objective of the car racing team from illegal racing and money grabs to a type of dumbed down Mission Impossible type of caper.
It was also nice to have Michelle Rodriguez back as Letty…her gruff alpha-female presence was missed. And Tyrese Gibson was really good as the comic relief.
This movie also had a really cool after credits scene (clicking that link will definitely spoil tings for you so beware!) that not only set up the next sequel but also worked out the chronological order of these films while at the same time reconciling the events (one event in particular) from THE FAST & THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT with the rest of the franchise. So stay in your seats after the credits start or you’ll miss it.

The Bad:
If character growth and deep, personal moments are what you are into this film is not for you. This is a movie made with it’s target audience of young males in mind. That being said some of the lines that were uttered in this film were downright laughable.
Also Luke Evans’ Shaw was a very bland and unmemorable villain.

The Ugly
There is a scene involving a a two lane bridge, a tank, a mustang, a titanium cable and two human beings flying through the air at abnormal speeds over an incredible distance that was just a bit too much even for this franchise.

Final Verdict: A perfectly fitting addition to the the FAST & FURIOUS movie franchise that moves all the characters into position for the next film while at the same time providing a nice action movie that epitomizes the type of film that summer movie viewing is all about.

    1. It is definitely a guilty pleasure type of movie and as long as you go into it expecting fast cars, minimal dialogue and lots of explosions then you should enjoy it.

    1. It was ridiculous wasn’t it? And they just hit that car at a high velocity yet shrugged it off like they landed in a pool of Jello.

      1. Exactly! That car should have broken their bodies not their fall. I don’t think either one of them suffered a bruise.

      2. But Gisele dies falling off the top of a fast moving car. I was expecting her to come limping over to the rest of the crew with only a few strands of hair out of place at the end.
