The Good:
The chemistry between Washington and Wahlberg was really good and it was their playful rapport that carried most of the movie which is as it should be in these types of films.
These types of movies success also relies heavily on the caliber of the villain and 2 GUNS was 2 for 3 in the villain department. Edward James Olmos and Bill Paxton were good enough to be the only villains in their own movies let alone being just 2 of 3 villains in the same film.

The Bad:
That third villain was a problem though. James Marsden has the chop to pull off a pretty decent smarmy asshat type of a villain but he was almost nondescript in his role.
2 GUNS also doesn’t set the world on fire with its script and the action is serviceable but not anything to write home about especially the climactic shoot out that saw far too many outrageous moments to explain away why the two leads didn’t take any bullets themselves.

The Ugly
Paula Patton is a good actress and a very beautiful woman but she was done no favors in this movie. Her role was so badly written and none of her actions made any sense. It was like she was onscreen to be a pretty plot device and nothing more.

Final Verdict: Stellar performances by most of the actors and really fun chemistry between the two leads make 2 GUNS a worthwhile action/buddy cop comedy despite some by the numbers plotting and thinly constructed characters.
Grade: B-
