The Good:
Not sure if it was acting or just what hard living has done to her but Lindsay Lohan is very convincing as a lost young woman who Hollywood has chewed up and now she is a cynical, hollow husk of a human being.

The Bad:
It is sad to see formerly top flight creators who now produce crap and that seems to be what has happened with Paul Schrader and Bret Easton Ellis. This movie would probably get a passing grade as a final project for a first year film student but coming from a director with Schrader’s resume it is just pitiful and I am not even sure Ellis actually wrote a script for this movie because almost every scene seemed like it was ad-libbed by the actors.

The Ugly:
James Deen is a horrible actor who brought nothing but porn level acting to this role. Aside from the shock value of having a hardcore sex worker in this movie I can’t fathom one good reason why he was cast.

Final Verdict: An amateurish project that seems way too much like an adult film with all of the hardcore sex taken out so that all we were left with was the bad acting. Lohan was convincing as an empty shell of a woman but I am not sure that is something she would like to be given credit for.
Rating: F

I will not give up hope for Lindsay Lohan; however, I agree; The Canyons is not it for her.

I felt a sense of sadness watching The Canyons because I recognize that Lohan is a talented actress yet I don’t think her career is ever going to get back on track.
