I have been avoiding any and all trailers for this sequel to 2010’s MACHETE because I was sorely disappointed in that movie. It was an overly political, drab and uninspired piece of moviemaking that was a chore to sit through. So when I actually took the time to watch the trailer for this sequel I was pleasantly surprised. MACHETE KILLS seems to be embracing the mindless silliness that director Robert Rodriguez excels at with Charlie “Carlos Estevez” Sheen as The President, Mel Gibson as an over-the-top Roger Moore era Bond villain, and goofy henchman galore.
Sure Jessica Alba is still in it but I think the fun campy stuff should be enough to make up for her inherent awfulness.
