The Good:
With this role Chris Evans has convinced me he is a legitimate star leading man. He is amazing in this role and regardless of which heavy hitter actor he is in a scene with or whether surrounded by a mob in a massive brawl, Evans holds your attention at all times. Even more than the CAPTAIN AMERICA films I feel that this is Evans breakout acting role.
Tilda Swinton was also incredibly memorable, and barely recognizable, in her role as Mason. The utter contempt she conveyed for the lower class took what could have been a comical part and made it malicious.
I also loved the look of the movie and the way the sets were designed. The lower class train cars were so dark, cramped and ugly while the upper class train cars were spacious, bright and welcoming. Watching the characters move from car to car and seeing the switch in the visuals was quite a treat.
The twist at the end was a bit of a gut punch too and just served to make everything that happened before even more heartbreaking.

The Bad:
I am sure Vlad Ivanov is a fine actor and a nice gentleman but if I were tasked with describing the actor in simple terms “unstoppable killing machine” would be the last thing I would think of. So watching this paunchy, balding, pasty middle-aged man going all Michael Myers on the rebellion was just a bit too much for my very active imagination to accept. The role of Franco Elder should have gone to a more intimidating actor.

The Ugly
The reveal of just what the food stuff the lower classes were eating was made of was a bit lacking especially when what I came up with in my head was far more grotesque.

Final Verdict: A film that is both thought-provoking and action-packed, SNOWPIERCER may be the best science fiction film I have seen in years. Complete with strong acting performances, striking visual flair and a smart script…I can’t recommend this film enough to anyone who enjoys well-made science fiction or just good movies in general.
