Synopsis:After watching on the news that an out-of-control ice cream truck is being chased by the police around the upper LA area, killing people and wrecking havoc among the way, a group of teens hell-bent on capturing the next viral video set out to chase the van. Things go from bad to worse when the content inside the van is revealed to be several tapes with bizarre stories, including that of a deranged illusionist who, after obtaining a demon-powered cloak, sets out on a killing spree; a garage scientist that manages to build a machine and open the door to a parallel world, where he and his double find out that their worlds are dangerously different; and the story of teenage skaters who unleash hordes of demonic foes after desecrating a ritual site in Tijuana. – (Source)

The Good:
The best segment of the entire movie was the “Dante The Great” segment that featured a wannabe magician who gets turned to the dark side once he gains possession of a magical cloak. It was like an episode of the old FRIDAY THE 13TH TV series where a cursed object ruins peoples lives.

The Bad:
The other segments were either weirdly nonsensical (Parallel Monsters) to just stupid (Bonestorm) and the wraparound segment was just not very interesting at all.

The Ugly:
The fact that there was nothing even remotely approaching the horrific greatness of what Timo Tjahjanto and Gareth Huw Evans gave us with “Safe Haven” in VHS 2 is just depressing.

Final Verdict:No truly stand out segments in this movie created a sense of disappointment and wasted potential for me as a view and fan of this franchise. This is the first time in the entirety of the franchise where there was not at least one mindblowing segment. Instead this was just a tepid and haphazard mess of a film.

Grade: D-
