The Good:
It is good to have Bruce Timm, the architect behind the DC Animated “Timmverse” (BATMAN THE ANMATED SERIES, JUSTICE LEAGUE, SUPERMAN), back even if this is a new universe ad not the one we are used to him working in. And he brought back Alan Burnett who is responsible for writing some of the best BTAS episodes and movies (MASK OF THE PHANTASM as a prime example). Together they have created a really intriguing new universe with familiar names but not much else. The story of the Justice League members evolving from semi-despots to heroes all while being targeted by the government was a good one.
The voice-acting was top notch too with Benjamin Bratt being a stand out as this universe’s Superman who was found and raised by Mexican immigrants and who peppered his dialog with Spanish while also rocking a “Mirror, Mirror” style goatee that signifies his bad-assness.

The Bad:
Would have liked to have seen more of the world especially in regards to other super-humans because I doubt that the Big Three would be the only ones running around with powers.
Also the ending seemed a bit too pat and like the set-up for future films/series.

The Ugly:
Highfather and The New Gods are douchebags.

Final Verdict: A fun, dark take on familiar characters by the gy who revolutionized super-hero animation. The action is cool, the story is fascinating and the voice cast delivers. I can’t wait to see more of this universe and hopefully Timm has a desire to come back to it.
