THE GOOD
To the film’s credit, the “Amityville Horror but in a swimming pool” premise is on the more original side.
And Jodi Long gives a magnificently creepy scenery chewing performance in her exposition heavy scene that provided one of the few awesome moments of the entire film.

THE BAD
Despite the clever premise the movie itself was extremely pedestrian and a completely paint by numbers Blumhouse offering. Worst of all this movie was dreadfully boring and seemed more like a late-night infomercial for a local swimming pool company than a horror movie.
I also had almost no interest in the family at the center of the movie. None of the actors had any chemistry with one another and all of their characters were such drips that I didn’t give a blip about their safety in the face of the demonic swimming pool coming after them.

THE UGLY
Night Swim had a running time of 1:38 yet it felt like I was in the movie theater for the better part of a fortnight.

FINAL VERDICT
Night Swim was a boring and tepid bit of supernatural horror that spent most of its time treading water. The first horror movie offering of 2024 ended up being a total wet noodle and I’m hoping that is not a portent of the year to come.
