Alicia Myers is the former lead singer of the group One Way (another R&B act that is under appreciated) who embarked on a solo career in the early 1980s that included several gospel tinged, uptempo numbers. Myers may not be very well known and it’s likely that most people can’t name any of her songs but they will still know them when they hear them because they have been sampled by contemporary artists.

Artists from Queen Latifah to Robin S but the most famous artist to sample Alicia has been Mariah Carey who used some of “I Want To Thank You” for her own 1992 hit “Make It Happen”.
