Peter Berg shows he has a knack for directing big budget sci-fi spectacles. He provided some really good looking fight/battle scenes and I am looking forward to him trying his hand at another one in the near future.
Kitsch was a lot better as the action hero in BATTLESHIP than he was in JOHN CARTER.
Rihann is a terrible little actress and in a movie where acting was not even a second or third most important aspect of the film that is saying something.
The aliens were really uninspired both visually and in their muddled motivations.
No one utters the line “You sank my battleship!” which was a bummer.
Final Verdict: A loud and visually appealing bit of morally simplistic storytelling. BATTLESHIP is goofy fun that is the epitome of what a mindless summer action movie should be. As long as you have some time to kill and you go into it with sufficiently lowered expectation you should have an enjoyable 2 hours watching BATTLESHIP. C+
