A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White, a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother, who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. – Rotten Tomatoes
Despite my initial thoughts about this remake being “why are they even doing this?”, I have to admit to being more than a little bit intrigued to see what director Kimberly Peirce will do with Stephen King’s story. If anyone can really dive into the alienation and otherness of Carrie White it would have to be the director of Boys Don’t Cry.
In addition to a director I like, this remake stars a bunch of actors (Chloë Grace Moretz as Carrie, Julianne Moore as the demented Margaret White, the always enjoyable Judy Greer) I am also a fan of so the possibility of this “reimagining” not totally sucking is a lot higher than if it were in the hands of a director from One Tree Hill and starred Dee from Battlestar Galactica. Like anyone would ever think that would be a good idea.
The fact that Julianne Moore is playing her mother has me sold on seeing this one.

The cast and director are the only reasons why I will not completely dismiss this remake outright.
