The Good:
Little kids are inherently creepy and when you throw a bunch of them into a big group their inherent creepiness just gets magnified (can ya tell that I am not a father?) so in a film about an island full of murderous moppets that is a good thing. It also helped the atmosphere of the film by setting it on an island off the coast of Mexico so that it felt like the characters were not only cut off from the rest of world but also that they’d drove their boat through a time portal and ended up in the past.

The Bad:
I absolutely despised Francis and Beth, our two protagonists. Considering that they were just about the only people being stalked by the crazy kids on the island that made me really not give a rat’s ass about anything that happened in this movie. I almost got to the point where I was rooting for the kids to just off this blandly annoying couple just to put me out of my misery.

The Ugly
The ending of this movie was so predictable that I guessed it even before Francis and Beth arrived on the “Island of Misfit Kids”.

Final Verdict: This premise has a huge amount of potential but in the hands of the singularly named writer/director Makinov, what audiences get is a dull, predictable movie with uninspiring characters and nary a thrill to be found anywhere.

You think it would have been better if Tommy Wiesau had directed it?

Call me crazy but I think almost anything would be better if directed by Mr. Wiseau.
