The Good:
I am a huge fan of haunts/fright houses and the like. The amount of creativity that people show driven solely by their love of the horror genre is fun to see and I think it was cool that so many of the various haunts that are in operation around the country were given a spotlight in this movie.
It’s October…go visit your local haunted house/hayride/prison/maze, people!!!!!
Oh yeah, the porcelain doll girl’s make-up was really good and super creepy.
The Bad:
I have a gigantic pet peeve with most found footage horror films where it seems like there is no script and all of the actors are just allowed to improv most of their scenes. This usually devolves into a group of people screaming obscenities and repeating the same sentences over and over in a scene that goes on longer than a really bad SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE skit. And this movie had that in spades. The fact that there are three credited writers on this movie is mindboggling to me because I don’t think there was more than 3 pages of actual script written for people to memorize. A bunch of bad actors yelling at one another in an RV is not my idea of a good time.
And for the most part nothing really happens in this movie. It is like watching vacation video of people you are not friends with on what may be the shittiest road trip ever.
The Ugly:
What the hell was up with the way this movie ended? I have no idea what the point of anything I watched was and the way it ended made no sense. No one’s motivations were given even the slightest explanation. It was just 90 minutes of nothing much.
Final Verdict:This movie was such a bad film in terms of story, directing and acting. All of the characters were annoying beyond belief. The amounts time between things of any interest happening is interminable and it is not scary at all. It was nice seeing some of the real haunts that are out there but I am sure my time would have been better spent visiting one than sitting through this amateurish attempt at horror.
Grade: D-
very creative, I would definately watch this is theaters.
