The Good:
The fight/action choreography in this movie is some of the best I have seen in an American action movie in years. It was hyper-kinetic, simultaneously balletic and brutal in ways that are very reminiscent of THE RAID films. I can only surmise that this wonderful instinct for directing action so well was something that first time directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski carried with them from their extensive experience in the stunt field. I look forward to what they do next with their careers as directors.
The world that is built in JOHN WICK is also a very intriguing one. To create this underground universe of hitmen where they have their own rules and regulations on how to behave was a stroke of creative brilliance and I really want to see more of this world.
It was also good to see Keanu Reeves back in the mode that suits him best, as a monosyllabic action star. The supporting cast was really good too with Alfie Allen really standing out as the impetus for John Wick’s return to his bloody former life. It seems like Allen has a knack for playing entitled assholes based on this role and his part on GAME OF THRONES.
The Bad:
I really would have liked to see more done with great character actors like Clarke Peters, Ian McShane and John Leguizamo than what was done with them in their small roles in this film.
The Ugly:
Seeing the trail of blood left by that adorable dying puppy as it dragged itself over to John Wick after the assault on Wick’s home was enough to make a grown man cry.
Final Verdict:A slick, fast-paced and entertainingly violent film that created a graphic make believe world of honorable assassins is one of the best action movies of the year and firmly re-establishes Keanu Reeves as a top action movie star. I look forward to seeing more from this character and the film’s directors as well as from Mr. Reeves himself in the near future.

It was good but if you aren’t an action fan it might not be your cup of tea since aside from about 10 minutes of the movie it is all out action.
