The Good:
Well at least they went into a bit more detail about the whole origin of the Factions thing even if that explanation was kinda goofy.
Jeff Daniels makes a very effective douchebag villain.

The Bad:
I can only assume the paychecks for this movie franchise are pretty snazzy because I can’t think of any other reason talented actors like Jeff Daniels, Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer decided to participate in this dreck.
As for the movie itself…all of the issues I had with the first two films still stand but you can also throw in a completely ridiculous civil war between the liberated Factions that seemed to kick off about 20 minutes after they all got out from under the rule of the evil Erudite overlords.
Also the majority of the effects in this movie looked like ass.

The Ugly:
Killing Maggie Q in the first 10 minutes of any movie is a crime, doing it in a movie that desperatley needs as many charismatic actors as possible to stem the tide of awful is just an atrocity.

Final Verdict: Does anyone know what the hell the point of this entire franchise is? Because I swear I can’t honestly say and I have suffered through all three of them. ALLEGIANT is bad but not any more bad than the other two so if you liked those then you will like this and if you hated those then you will feel the same way about this one. Count me in the latter group.

Grade: D-
