The Best Moments From The Scream 6 Trailer

Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”) and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.

As if he wasn’t deadly enough with just a knife, now Ghostface is exercising his 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and murder innocent people. I know a lot of Scream fans are quite perturbed at the idea of Ghostface busting caps in fools but I kinda like the stakes being upped and our heroes and Final Girls having to find a way to avoid bullets as well as sharp objects.

I know the Scream franchise doesn’t dabble in the supernatural but it really does look like Ghostface teleports to avoid being shot by the Bodega owner. I mean he dodged that shotgun blast like he was a mix of Batman and John Wick. Those are not human reflexes. Now way, no how.

I, like most Scream fans, was quite bummed by the death of Kirby Reed in Scream 4. I had so many issues with her being killed and made up all sorts of ways in my head to explain how she could have lived and thankfully Radio Silence seem to have the same dislike of Ms. Reed’s demise as fans had. Last year’s Scream movie gave us little Easter Eggs showing that Kirby was alive but now we get to see her in the flesh and I am overjoyed. Of course the fact that she only has two scenes in the trailer which now has me dreading the possibility that Kirby has only been brought back just to die a more final (and probably more brutal) death.

I could not imagine how horrifying it would be to end up on a New York subway train (an awful experience on its own) that is full of people dressed like the homicidal maniac who terrorized you and murdered your friends. And to her credit Jasmin Savoy-Brown conveys all of the sense of dread you’d expect her Mindy to be feeling being stuck in that situation. This scene in its truncated form is tense as hell so I can just imagine how it will play out in the movie.

Things do not look good for Gale Weathers in this trailer. The new Super Ghostface is in her apartment, kills her friend without Gale even noticing and seems to be more of a relentless T-1000 than some incel in a Spirt Halloween costume. The way Ghostface busts through the door on Gale makes her chances of surviving look pretty grim. I am really hoping that this isn’t a fake out and Gale does get sent to The Upper Room because I am a very vocal proponent of all of the OG Three getting bumped off to clear the way for the new blood.
