The Daily Nerdgasm: All My Captains

All 5 Star Trek TV show captains…William Shatner (Capt. Kirk, ST:TOS), Patrick Stewart (Capt. Picard, ST:TNG), Avery Brooks (Capt. Sisko, ST:DS9), Kate Mulgrew (Capt. Janeway, ST:VOY), and Scott Bakula (Capt. Archer, ST:ENT)…were gathered together on one stage for a Q&A at the Destination Star Trek convention, the first Star Trek convention in the UK in around a decade. That pic makes my inner Trekkie (and yes I am a Trekkie not a Trekker so screw anyone who has a problem with it) squeal with delight and feel really bummed that I couldn’t be there. Cover Me Monday: Pumped Up Kicks

Pumped Up Kicks is a snazzy little tune that tends to get stuck in my head for days on end every time I hear. Usher add some very usher like flourishes to it that did nothing to ruin the song but instead made it just different enough to be interesting. There is nothing worse than a beat for beat copy … Continue reading Cover Me Monday: Pumped Up Kicks

The Daily Nerdgasm: Dexter Morgan’s Laboratory

Why has it taken so long for somebody to do a mashup of everyone’s favorite serial killer and my own personal favorite boy genius? The fine folks over at Screenjunkies realized the vacuum in pop culture that this was and filled it by creating this amalgamation of Showtime’s Dexter and Cartoon Network’s Dexter’s Laboratory complete with a Deb/Dee Dee hybrid of annoyance.

Cover Me Monday: We Found Love (Take Two)

I am not really a fan of the original version of this song by Rihanna but I am finding myself enjoying the heck out of covers of it. I posted the Jessie J cover a little while ago (pointing out how a powerful singing voice can do wonders with a song originally sung by a lesser vocalist) but the Bat For Lashes cover got me for a completely different reason. If you listen to the lyrics of We Found Love you notice that it isn’t the most shiny happy song. The problem is that Rihanna doesn’t have the depth of … Continue reading Cover Me Monday: We Found Love (Take Two)
