Tyreese is finally coming to The Walking Dead! The biggest gripe I have had with The Walking Dead TV show was that they didn’t include the fan-favorite character of Tyreese on the show. My annoyance was compounded by the fact that the new character of T-Dog was created for no good reason at all instead of just having what was one of the best characters from the comic on the show. So when I heard the rumors that the Tyreese character was being cast I was ecstatic and then when I read that the character had been cast with Chad Coleman (a favorite of mine from his time on The Wire) filling the role I was giddy with excitement. So seeing the promo that introduces the character (after the jump) just makes me even more psyched for this Sunday’s fall finale than I already was but spoilers have me feeling a bit of trepidation at the same time.

I have a bad feeling (if spoilers are to be believed) that Oscar is going to be killed in this next episode which gives credence to the claim that there can be only one black male character at a time on The Walking Dead.

We had Morgan in the first episode but he was removed from the canvass just in time for us to be introduced to T-Dog who hung around with our happy cast of survivors (saying very little and basically being a burly paper weight) until the current season of the show where we were introduced to a group of convicts at the prison. The prison group consisted of three black dudes who were quickly whittled down to one, Oscar. Oscar and T-Dog didn’t get much time to co-exist before T-Dog died saving Carol from Walkers. And this brings us to the upcoming fall finale. In this episode we will be introduced to the character of Tyreese but according to spoilers I have read Oscar dies in the same episode during the raid on Woodbury.

Now I am not accusing anyone of anything but the picture that is being formed here is one of a show that refuses to allow more than one black man to be in the main cast for more than an episode or two before one of those brothas has to be bumped off.
Oh well…if there can be only one I would gladly sacrifice a million T-Dogs and Oscars for one Tyreese.
