One of the crowning achievements of the Holland-Dozier-Holland production team and a bit of a departure from the established Supremes sound, this is one of my favorite songs by the Supremes as well as one of my favorite Motown songs ever.

Rod Stewart Version
Stewart’s version of the song takes it from its R&B roots and makes it a soulful rock anthem that always gives me an urge to lift my lighter high in the air and sway back and forth.

Kim Wilde Version
Wilde’s version is pure synth heavy 80’s pop with its speeded up tempo and it always hits me with a wave of nostalgia.

Vanilla Fudge Version
My absolute favorite version of this song and the text book definition of what I consider “blue-eyed soul”.
