Synopsis:After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them. – (Source)
The Good:
Tatum and Hill have a really good comedic chemistry that seems to have just gotten better since the first film. Tatum especially still surprises me with how willing he is to be a total goofball. The increase of screen time for Ice Cube was a welcome change from the first film as he fit right in with the Tatum/Hill duo and never felt like his role being enlarged was forced.
Also Jillian Bell was hysterical. Some of the funniest lines in the movie were hers and she has an awesome deadpan delivery and was shockingly adept at physical comedy.
The story was nothing special but the constant meta references were a good way to circumvent audience expectations and poke a little fun at the absurdity of the loud summer blockbuster sequel.
The closing credits sequences were very funny and creative too.
The Bad:
A little more time spent on the bad guys would have been a good idea. Especially considering how potentially hilarious a quirky actor like Peter Stormare could have been if a little ore time and energy was spent in fleshing out his villainous character.
The Ugly
Wow, Richard Grieco has gotten so very old. And that makes me feel so very old too.
Final Verdict: An extremely funny sequel that accomplishes the difficult task of being better than the first film by realizing that it was pretty much a carbon copy of that movie and poking fun at that reality. Hill and Tatum have great comedic chemistry and the supporting cast really brings it as well. Great fun.
Grade: B+
I think Channing Tatum has such excellent comic timing. I love how unselfconscious he is. Plus the scene where he talked about having “Cate Blanchett” with the budget slayed me.

Right after he totally spazzed out at the knowledge that Jonah Hill’s character had slept with Ice Cube’s daughter…he really does look like he enjoys himself doing comedy.

The film is hilarious. Tatum and Hill work so well together and to be honest my favourites scene where with them and Ice Cube.
Great Review Derek 😀
“We Jump Street, and we ’bout to jump in yo ass. Jenko: Mmmm-hmmm. Schmidt: Right in the crack.”

Just reading that line made me laugh almost as hard as I did when I saw it in the movie.
