The Good:
Alex Essoe was amazing as a young actress so desperate for her shot at stardom that she would physically, morally and psychologically abuse herself in order to make it. The scenes where she would undergo her ritual of self-harm were an amazing show of physical acting on her part and were very hard to watch.
The film also was able to evoke some really creepy moments that were reminiscent of ROSEMARY’S BABY with the whole Satan worshipers preying on a defenseless young woman angle.

The Bad:
A cool creepiness gave way to overly gratuitous and borderline schlocky violence though. It sort of felt like the two directors were making two entirely different movies. And by the end it devolves into utter nonsense that never gets anywhere close to being explained.

The Ugly:
I get that aspiring starlets really want to get big parts but there is no way that anyone would have been swayed by the overtly creepy casting folks. They were all so over the top in their mannerisms and speech patterns that it was absurd.

Final Verdict: A film with a truly eye opening performance from its lead actress and some very deft touches in direction and script (at times) from its young creator team but it sadly goes off the rails down the stretch and takes what was a cool and original concept down some very unoriginal roads. Despite the missteps the film is still worth a look if not just for Alex Essoe’s incredible performance alone.
