5. Deadly Force

Look, Ma! It’s one of them “message episodes”! This one is on the dangers of gun violence and it sees Elisa accidentally getting shot by Broadway who has developed an interest in guns from watching violent shoot ’em up cowboy movies. This episode was deemed controversial because it showed guns that looked like actual guns (most cartoons depict guns that look like toy lasers), showed Elisa bleeding from her bullet wound and had our heroic Gargoyles walking very closely up to the line of Punisher style vigilantism. The controversy was so great that the episode was initially pulled from air and then only released after edits were made remove any blood that was depicted onscreen. Plus it has one of my favorite scenes in this show’s history where Goliath is told about Elisa being shot seconds before the sun rises and he is turned to stone.
