This trailer looks really fun! I was awaree that a film based on the 1960s spy TV series starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum was being shot but I was shocked when I saw the film would be set in 1963. For some reason I was expecting the movie to be set in modern times which I think woulkd have been a mistake. THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. is a concept that really works best set in the swinging 60s where the Red Scare was at its height and mod was in.
Also the geek in me is a bit excited to see The New Superman and The Almost Batman (Armie Hammer was set to play Batman in the doomed Geirge Miller helmed Justice League movie) teaming up. And from the trailer it looks like Hammer and Henry Cavill have a nice bit of chemistry. Cavill especially looks to be filling the cool as a cucumber shoes of Vaughn’s TV Napolean Solo with his deadpan and inflappible performance. Looks like I’ll have to add this to my must see list.
