The Good:
It is really obvious just how much fun everyone involved seemed to be having making this movie. That enjoyment definitely carries over to the finished product.
The movie was also legitimately funny. The jokes came fast and furious and the majority of them hit the mark. The scenes where Keegan-Michael Key as a vampire teacher gives the most Bizarro inspirational pep talk to a student and the family dinner table scene with Ian Roberts as a hugely un-PC dad with horrible parenting skills were both hilarious standouts.
I also liked the conceit that the movie was set in a world where humans and monsters lived side by side and aliens were seen as the invading force.

The Bad:
One thing I look for in a good horror-comedy is just how well the film can balance the funny with the deadly serious. On the high end of the scale would be a film like SHAUN OF THE DEAD and at the lower end is where a movie like CURSED would reside. FREAKS OF NATURE, try as it might, could never quite get the balance right. The funny was there but I never really bought into the serious stuff.

The Ugly:
The way the townspeople got rid of the aliens was the definition of hokey. I would have liked to see a bit more bite and little less cheese in that situation.

Final Verdict: A goofy but oh so fun entry in the comedy-horror (or is it horror-comedy) genre that adds an inventive little twist to the monster mash and delivers lots of laughs to go along with the gore and violence.
