The Good:
To her credit, Gina Gershon twirled her metaphorical mustache with all sorts of gusto in her role as the villainous politician and mother of one of the doomed kids. Too bad it was wasted here.
And at least the high school students looked like they could be high school students in this one instead of looking like members of the school board like in the first film.
The Bad:
These kids were such flat actors from top to bottom. The script was a total overworked disaster with all sorts of byzantine machinations that made no sense and worst of all the kills were all trite and pedestrian. How do you make a horror film with such dull kills?
And I would love to know what got Sean Astin to take over a role that Judd Nelson didn’t want to do any more. Whatever it was it had to be horrifying.
The Ugly:
The graphic novel series this franchise is based on is actually enjoyable and I am a huge Ben Browder stan so I just don’t get why these films are so bad. Maybe the curse from the movies is happening to these folks in real life by keeping them from making an enjoyable film.
Final Verdict: Big shocker! The sequel to BAD KIDS GO TO HELL, an awful movie to be sure, ends up being even worse than the original! BAD KIDS OF CRESTVIEW ACADEMY fails in every category from casting to acting to directing (sorry Ben Browder…I still love FARSCAPE though) and is just a mess of a film.
Grade: D-
