This week brings us giddy comic book fans the long awaited Grant Morrison project for DC, Multiversity…Ed Brubaker’s foray into 1940s Hollywood in his new Image book…and even more secrets revealed from Marvel’s Original Sin event.
I’m back doing this! And on an actual Wednesday no less! Will wonders never cease? Anyhoo, I am going to try and keep this going on a weekly basis by selecting a DC book, a Marvel book and a book from a third publisher of my choice. So with that out of the way let’s get to reviewing some comics!
After a bit of a hiatus (spurred on by the fact I haven’t been able to pick up my comics anytime before Saturday) TGIW is back and this week we take a gander at the continuing of the Trinity War, the first issue of the new Avengers cosmic event mini-series, and a new book by J. Michael Straczynski that takes a bleak look at the profession of superhero sidekick.
This week’s stash brings with it the continuation of the big time Justice League crossover complete with a certain mysterious fan favorite finally getting some time in the spotlight; a new addition to already bursting at the seams vampire genre that is different from anything else on the market; and anew writer breathes life into a title that was D.O.A. under the pedestrian writing of its original author.
After a holiday break TGIW is back just in time for The Trinity War to get kicked off, two brand new books from Image that continue to cement that company’s place int he comic book world as the new Vertigo, the return of the World’s Worst Superteam and the Uncanny X-Men spend an entire issue talking…a lot.
This was a good week for me as I found myself liking pretty much everything on my pull list and the selections for this post run the gamut from a day in a dog’s life to a new book from an industry heavyweight to the return of the World’s Finest team to a coda for one of the worst miniseries ever that is actually pretty enjoyable.
This week the Age of Ultron ends with a whimper, wonder Woman has a family reunion, mutant and human relations in the Avengers hit an impasse, Invincible is expecting a baby and war is brewing between Atlantis and Wakanda while Dr. Doom throws a delightful dinner party.
This week in the world of funny books Superman breaks his chains, Batman gets a tweak to his origin story, Wolverine has to deal with a competing school, zombies continue to walk and a gorilla is packing heat in not one but two new comics!!!
This week brings the return of one of the best comics to be published by multiple companies, the penultimate issue of THE BIGGEST EVENT IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE!!!!, the new direction for Green Lantern and more.
