I was reading about the upcoming remake of THE EVIL DEAD that Sam Raimi is directing and Bruce Campbell is co-producing and I got a little wistful. I understand that Hollywood is all about recycling ideas and it was only a matter of time before they got around to doing THE EVIL DEAD.
On the plus side at least this new version is going to be in the hands of the two men who made the original series so much fun. Plus they have cast the wonderful Jane Levy (from the equally wonderful TV series SUBURGATORY) in the gender switched lead role which is another check in the plus column. But I am still wistful just because I cannot imagine anyone replacing Campbell in the role of Ash (even if the role is now a woman named Mia); hell I can’t imagine anyone replacing Campbell in any of his roles. I mean he’s Bruce Campbell! Who doesn’t like Bruce Campbell? He is one of the most likable famous people on the planet. I Have Met Him. Even Got My Picture Taken With Him.
He Came To Southern Illinois University To Give A Speech And Promote BUBBA HO-TEP. So I, My Brother, And My Best Friends All Made The Trip To Check It Out. And He Did An Autograph And Photo-Taking Session.
