1. Ash from EVIL DEAD
This one is a no-brainer. Ash is one of the most popular characters in the horror and most of it has to do with how Campbell portrayed him. The character goes from a pretty benign and unspectacularly stock horror movie character and turns into one of the horror genres most memorable heroes. The unbridled glee with which Campbell throws subtlety to the wind and goes full blown nuts is a sight to see.

He Came To Southern Illinois University To Give A Speech And Promote BUBBA HO-TEP. So I, My Brother, And My Best Friends All Made The Trip To Check It Out. And He Did An Autograph And Photo-Taking Session.
