TV Shows So Bad They Were Cancelled Before Airing One Episode

The Dictator

No this is not in any way related to the Sasha Baron-Cohen film of the same name except for the fact that the 1988 failed CBS sitcom that is the subject of this entry also featured a dictator out of his element and sounds like it would have been just as unfunny as the 2012 Baron-Cohen film. If only Paramount had cancelled the movie before it made its way to movie theaters. But that is a rant for a different day. The TV Dictator series was to feature Back to the Future and Taxi star Christopher Lloyd as an exiled dictator from some unnamed (probably made up for TV) Caribbean island nation who finds himself stuck in Queens, NY running a neighborhood Laundromat. Let your mind run amok with all of the fish out of water situations that Lloyd’s character would find himself in. and don’t even get me started on just how many racially insensitive caricatures of different ethnicities would have come wandering through each episode of this show if it had not been aborted before making it to air. It would have made the humor on Two Broke Girls seem positively highbrow by comparison.
