Back in 2012 VH1 was riding high on the coattails of the real life romance between NFL superstar Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Basketball Wives reality star Evelyn Lozada. The two had a courtship before the cameras on the VH1 reality show that featured Lozada and the network even filmed and aired the couple’s nuptials as a reality special. The stage was set for the spin-off reality series Ev & Ocho that would give viewers a glimpse into the couples married life. The problem was that Johnson was a bit of a volatile head case while Lozada was known to get into knockdown drag out brawls with the other women over the most minor disagreements on her own reality show. So it really should not have come as much of a surprise to anyone when reports surfaced of the two lovebirds getting into a physical altercation not too long after they were married. The brouhaha culminated in Johnson head butting his new bride opening a deep laceration on her forehead and resulting in Johnson’s arrest. In a shocking show of restraint and good taste VH1 decided that a reality show about a couple that just engaged in a bloody street fight was not a good look and proceeded to drop the cancellation ax on Ev & Ocho before one tacky scene could be aired.
