The Best Looking New Fall TV Shows

FRESH OFF THE BOAT (ABC)

It’s the ’90s and 12 year old, hip-hop loving Eddie just moved to suburban Orlando from DC’s Chinatown with his parents. It’s culture shock for his immigrant family in this comedy about pursuing the American Dream.

Of all the comedy trailers I watched, FRESH OFF THE BOAT was the only one that made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. The humor is a bit politically incorrect but it is funny which is all that really matters. Plus it looks like the family dynamic will be one that is just as heartwarming as it is funny but feature a bit of a bite like the best family comedies usually have.

The Whispers will be on my recording schedule. Why? Two words: Lily Rabe.

Rabe is great and the show looks like it will be really good. And considering ABC gave that Resurrection show a second season has me optimistic that they’ll give The Whispers a decent shot.
