I Am An Unapologetic Riley Finn Fan
Riley gets a bad rap from the Angel and Spike shippers which sucks because Riley was better boyfriend material than either vamp. Riley never was insecure about Buffy being more powerful than him and he turned his back on everything he knew to be with her yet she treated the poor guy like crap. She constantly shut him out, treated him like an accessory and just was an awful girlfriend to the guy. So what did the writers do with this good guy who Buffy treated like crap and who the fans never warmed to because he wasn’t some skeevy, semi-abusive monster who broods a lot? They decided to make the guy hit rock bottom and become a willing blood bank for skanky vamp hookers. It was a shitty thing to do to a character that didn’t deserve it.

So much better. The whole good guy/Buffy’s puppy dog stuff ruined the character.
Somehow having him play the hero role on Angel didn’t come off bad at all though.

Oh yeah he was better in angel. I think it was the rivalry and clashing of heads between angel and Spike that gave them both more material to work with.
