The Show Should Have Ended In Season 5
Season 5 would have been the perfect bittersweet swan song for this show. Buffy overcame all manner of trials (the greatest being the death of her mother) to finally defeat the mad god Glory and in doing so Buffy sacrificed her own life for her family, friends and the world. That is a fitting end for the character and the show and would have allowed BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER to go out on a seriously high note. But nope, we had to tack on 2 more seasons that were underwhelming to say the least. Sure it would have meant we didn’t get “Once More With Feeling” but we also would have been spared Spike trying to rape Buffy, Tara being shot, and all of the Junior Slayerettes.

So much better. The whole good guy/Buffy’s puppy dog stuff ruined the character.
Somehow having him play the hero role on Angel didn’t come off bad at all though.

Oh yeah he was better in angel. I think it was the rivalry and clashing of heads between angel and Spike that gave them both more material to work with.
