The Good:
The opening kill scene was pretty well done…nearly movie SCREAM quality. The cat-and-mouse game between the killer and his intended victim had just the right amount of tension.
And thankfully they kept the same voice for the killer that has been used in all of the SCREAM feature films.

The Bad:
But after the opening kill we get bogged down in some generic ABC Family teen drama featuring bland characters, bland acting and some seriously bland actors. Is there a reason why almost every primary female cast member is a blond white chick? Aside from Bex Taylor-Klaus and Brianne Tju (who is Asian) the ladies on this show all look like they were made from the same template.
Also the backstory of a past serial killer tied to one of the teens seems pretty unnecessary for this show.

The Ugly:
The mask design for the killer on this show is terrible and it makes no sense why they would go away from the iconic Ghostface mask for this lame bargain bin sex shop looking crap. The freaking mask looks like its intended purpose is for having anonymous oral copulation.

Final Verdict: A slick looking episode that featured a really cool opening but then slammed the brakes on any forward momentum to focus on characters that I only grew to hate and want to see killed the more time the were on my TV screen. This show is going to have to work on making at least a few of these people likable or risk viewers not caring one bit whether they live or die.
And they need to get the gotdamn Ghostface mask on this killer ASAP!
