An Australian criminal who uses tricked out boomerangs to commit crimes…what other name could he possibly have but Captain Boomerang, right? Digger Harkness’ alias is an unfortunate byproduct of the character being created during the 1960s Silver Age of comics where being incredibly literal was considered a positive since comic books were targeted towards little kids and it was assumed that little kids were not too bright. Captain Boomerang is an arch-enemy of The Flash which is really ridiculous when you think about it because by the time he even raised his hand to toss a boomerang the Flash would have run around the world 5 times.
As part of The Suicide Squad, Boomerang was fleshed out a bit more from his days as a generic bad guy. Boomerang was basically re-imagined as the most colossal asshole in all of comic books. He is cowardly, untrustworthy, lazy, and greedy. Honestly there is not one redeeming quality about Captain Boomerang except that he revels in the fact that he is so awful and as a result he is one of the most fun characters on this team of malcontents.
