JJ Abrams needs to be commended for his ability to keep his projects as free from being spoiled as humanly possible in this social media age. He managed it with the biggest movie ever in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and he does it again with what is almost like a stealth release for the long-rumored sequel to found footage monster movie CLOVERFIELD…10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. This movie, that Abrams calls “a blood relative of Cloverfield”, takes place in a fallout shelter occupied by three inhabitants (John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and John Gallagher Jr) who from the looks of it are beginning to suffer from some serious cabin fever.
It is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who got this gig with his short film PORTAL: NO ESCAPE (watch it, it’s awesome), and looks to be a total departure from the original film in both its smaller setting and cast as well as not being a “found footage” film. And best of all is that it stars John Goodman who makes everything he is in at the very least 78% better than it started. I enjoyed CLOVERFIELD (even if I did leave the theater with a major headache from all the jittery camera shots) and was curious if we were ever going to get anything more from the CLOVERFIELD universe so I am stoked that this is what we are getting.
10 CLOVERFIELD LANE hits theaters March 11.
So JJ is finally going to explain Cloverfield after all these years…a sequel….FINALLY. God….I honestly did not see this coming, I thought this wasn’t happening. Thank you JJ! He’s the most secretive director I’ve seen.

He really is a master at keeping things under wraps. And I am really eager to see this new addition to the Cloverfield universe.
