Holy crap! Marvel finally has made a Thor film that I am instantly psyched to see and that makes Thor more than just a tall bland slab of meat. I am shocked! Or at least I would be if the movie wasn’t being directed by Taika Waititi the director/star of the amazing faux-documentary WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. You can see that this movie is the work of a director with a serious knack for comedy just on this trailer alone.

Cate Blanchett looks like she is going to steal the show as Hela and maybe even give Tom Hiddleston’s Loki a run for his money in the “Marvel Villain That Doesn’t Suck” category too. Every scene of hers showed Hela being badass and wrecking shop. Plus she has the horny, 8 point buck mask from the comics that I love so much. I would have been really disappointed if they kept that specific look out of the movie.

There are also a ton of quick cuts that show other Marvel/Thor supporting characters from a shaggy looking Heimdall (Idris Elba) and a ready for battle Loki to Karl Urban as Skurge the Executioner, a long time thorn in Thor’s side who is usually being led around like a lovesick puppy by the evil Enchantress so maybe she’ll pop up in this movie too.

And so many new characters from the Marvel cosmic and Thor universes like The Collector played by Jeff Goldblum in all of his Jeff Goldblum-ness and a very different version of Valkyries played by CREED‘s Tessa Thompson who I am sure will be an incredible addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although I am curious if she is totally replacing Sif in this movie or not.

Finally, we get the best part of the trailer…the appearance of The Hulk. I am not even mad about this part being revealed just because it delivers the funniest scene in the trailer and letting people know the Jade Giant is in the movie can only attract more ticket buyers.
