Ah, Scream Queens…every horror fan has a special place in their heart for these lovely ladies with their voluminous lung capacity and penchant for running across homicidal maniacs. Everyone knows the classic Scream Queens like Janet Leigh and her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis and then there are some of the lesser known but no less beloved Scream Queens like the 1980s fan favorites Linnea Quigley and Barbara Crampton. But who are the current crop of Scream Queens? Who are the ladies that are spending all of their movie screen time running for their lives from folks that are trying to kill them? Well I am glad you asked because I have a list of a few of my favorites after the cut.

The Not-So Final Girl is my own little observation about horror movies (most notably the slasher variety) and a tweak on the trope of the Final Girl, in that there is almost always one female character in a slasher film that usually gives the killer a run for his money before finally being taken out or just makes a huge enough impression on the audience (mostly through a strong performance by the actress) that we begin to wish she didn’t have to die.

For the uninitiated who are not up on their horror movie terminology, the Final Girl is a “horror film (particularly slasher film) trope that specifically refers to the last woman or girl alive to confront the killer, ostensibly the one left to tell the story“. So now that the definition is clear here are the ladies who made the cut (so to speak) in my estimation:
