Ah, Christmas. It is one of my favorite times of the year and not just for the presents and candy canes but also because it is the time of year when TV shows tend to put out some of their best stuff. With that in mind I have put together this list of my favorite TV show Christmas episodes. Put some chestnuts on an open fire and take a gander at some of the best holiday themed episodes of my favorite shows.
Just in case you were unaware, Dr. Doom…the Fantastic Four arch-nemesis and all around awesome bad guy, once stood in for Santa Claus when jolly old St. Nick was killed in the line of duty trying to deliver gifts to Doom’s country of Latveria and the old guy’s last request was for Doom himself to finish delivering all the rest of the toys for Christmas. This was all documented in the classic WHAT THE-?! #10, “I’ll be Doom For Christmas” story
Comics are so great sometimes.
Krampus is a beast-like creature from the folklore of Alpine countries thought to punish children during the Christmas season who had misbehaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas, who rewards well-behaved ones with gifts. Krampus is said to capture particularly naughty children in his sack and carry them away to his lair.
Man the Germans really are a stern people.
Santa Claus may get all the good press but I think it’s past time we started showing some love to Krampus because sometimes the threat of a lump of coal is not enough to keep kids in line and you need the threat of a demon from hell with a penchant for corporal punishment to do the job.

Watching the actors try and keep straight faces while Strax puts a Sontaran spin on some Christmas classics is a hoot and a half.
Don’t forget the Doctor Who Christmas Special airs tonight on BBC America at 9 pm EST.
I personally appreciate the tip about prioritizing zombie killing over pie making.
