Best Director Snub: Spike Jonze

How the hell does Spike Jonze not get a director nomination? He helmed one of the most offbeat movies I have ever seen that also just happened to be one of the best films of the year too boot. The future world that Jonze created in HER was a slice of genius from the way technology advanced to make the world an even more isolated and solitary place to the ridiculous fashion that his actors were forced to wear. Every delightfully oddball cell in this movie can be credited to Jonze (with a lot of help from his star Joaquin Phoenix) and his own quirky directing style. It really was work that needed to be recognized and it is a shame that it wasn’t.
