YOU’RE NEXT

Poor Kelly
Ah, Kelly-Kelly-Kelly. Sure she and her husband Drake were a bit on the douchebaggy side but honestly almost everyone in YOU’RE NEXT was some level of a douche. Besides Kelly being a bitch works for me because I always want to have at least one truly bitchy character in my slasher film just to have that one character that I actively root against and want to see get killed. But even though Kelly was not a very nice lady, her death was really really brutal.Unnecessarily so actually.

From the moment she was tossed through the glass door to the methodical way Lamb Mask took his time with her to the alarmingly violent way that Lamb Mask put that axe into the side of her head…it all made me feel really uncomfortable just because it was such a brutal death that took a long time to execute as opposed to most of the other deaths in the movie that were done with swift efficiency (like what happened with Aimee the family track star). And the way that Lamb Mask sat down next to the body of his earlier victim and just stared at Kelly’s fresh corpse was just super eerie.
